The Maalaga Social Foundation believes that quality, affordable education should be available to all children. Our Endeavour starts with Quality Education in the Rural areas that we provide along with our partners and staff. Education paves the way to a brighter future for these children of Migrant laborers. The prevailing poverty in India is about 600 million people (42% of India) and unemployment in India’s rural areas is close to 13% of our Indian population, rob the opportunity of having an education in many remote rural villages and poor marginalized communities
We provide free quality education for the poor tribal children in remote areas of western India in Partnership with the SVD Congregation in Maharashtra & Gujarat. In these rural schools, we provide the children with free books, snacks, school dresses and bags, and other necessary items. Our schools explore folklore in primary education, which would help tap tribals’ rich tradition in arts, crafts, music, songs, fables, etc. Similarly, Tribal based stories and riddles are collected, documented and used by teachers.

Schools & Hostels
The Maalaga Social foundation has adopted 5 Villages in the western part of India from Mangaon & Tala In Maharashtra, Muvaliya, Halol and Jhalod in Gujurat. In these extremely backward villages we run 5 schools in Partnership with the SVD Congregation. Nearly of 4000 children are provided education in these school and 10 Hostels for Tribal Boys( 1700) and girls (600) of poor Migrant Labours.
The Aim of the Maalaga Social foundation Education program is to assist children and young people in India taking them on a journey from Childhood to Livelihood through skill building and out of poverty. We have a huge challenge with 40% of females drop out of school by age 14 and 27% of girls still get married before they turn 18 our effort to keep the girls to school is relentless.
The children of Migrant labours need to be kept away from the Streets, The Maalaga Social Foundation provides the children in Rural areas with the necessary shelter, healthy meals, clothes, healthcare and education to have a better life.
By enabling children and young people to complete secondary education, delay their age at marriage, and attain the skills needed for a stable job, The Maalaga Social foundation helps to break the cycle of poverty for them and their future generations.

Making Learning Fun
At each of our Schools we ensure a blend of School education with local cultural traditions with a lot of focus in Interactive learning between the teacher and students. At our school we understand the needs to encourage Cultural shows like Dance & Music; something the tribal community is very talented and enjoys.
Since the tribal’s love Nature and Open air, we try to have some of the classes in open air like Yoga and some of the classes that can be conducted without the use of black board.
Our Schools are equipped with child friendly learning material such as audio-visual tools, books, science kits, sports kits, and hygiene education kits
Cleanliness drive in rural schools
Cleanliness needs to be taught at a young age and at Maalaga Social foundation we aim to teach the children to keep their schools clean. It is part of the hygiene education given to the these tribal children on total hygiene, from brushing their teeth 2 times a day to how to use toilets to ensuring daily bath, we cover all aspects of hygiene in the child daily life. It takes more than 6 months with focused mentoring to make sure this is made a part of their life and self awareness to cleanliness and self dignity.
