Corona virus Pandemic Initiatives

As citizens across the nation come together to fight the corona virus pandemic, Mumbai based NGO ; The Maalaga Social Foundation have been working around the clock to feed the needy in Andheri East area of Mumbai.

Informal workers whom we call the migrant workers, majority of whom can be categorised as the “urban poor” form 69.1% of urban India’s workforce (NSS, 2011–12) and remain largely invisible—both as workers and as residents.

Amid the lockdown, The Foundation supplied food ration kits containing 5kg rice,2 liter cooking oil,3 kgs Onion, 2Kgs Potato, 3 soaps for bathing, and hand sanitizers to nearly 7000 families & poor migrant workers living in the slums and Chawls in Andheri & Jogeshwari area of Mumbai.

Apart from this we also provided which has been serving cooked food — including 1000 food packets daily to the underprivileged migrant workers. As Social workers, we need to be prepared to deal with uncertainties. Our strategies was to reach out to migrant workers living in the slums and Chawls in Andheri East & Jogeshwari EAST area of Mumbai. So, we not only served cooked food and provided dry ration.
