As per Global Hunger Index report – 2021, India ranks 101st out of the 116 countries.59.7% households are ‘severely food-insecure’. According to World Bank “56 Million Indians plunged into poverty in 2020”.
A more alarming survey report, The National Family Health Survey (NFHS) of 2019-2020 reported that 35.2% children under the age of 5 years were stunted and 68.9% Children aged 6-59 months were anaemic.
Mumbai, being the financial capital of the country with millions of migrant labour, struggles with hunger, starvation and malnourishment. 60,000 – 70,000 children are severely malnourished and every 2nd child is wasted or stunted.
The Foundation supplies Nutrition Food kits ( dry ration) containing 5kg rice,1 liter cooking oil,3 kgs Onion, 2Kgs Potato,biscuits,and 3 soaps for bathing to poor migrant workers living in the slums and chawls in Andheri ,Goregaon & Jogeshwari area of Mumbai.
Shraddh Paksha is a sacred practice, where people honour their ancestors. Rituals and charitable acts are carried out as a mark of gratitude. One of the best ways to pay homage is by feeding those in need.
