The Maalaga Social Foundation has been working since 2006 with The Little Sisters of the Poor an organization founded in !839 by Saint Jeanne Jugan in France to give dignity & self respect for the Poor and destitute aged persons. The primary objective of protecting destitute women and the elderly by providing a hygienic environment, balanced nutritious food, clothing, shelter, companionship with love and affection for each other. The Elderly live as ONE BIG FAMILY.
An unique mission is to care for the elderly poor till the end of their lives.
The Maalaga Social foundation help purchase of day to day needs of the Elderly like all kinds of toiletries, gifts for the elderly for Birthdays, supporting in Organizing cultural entertainment activities for the Elderly like music & dances and festival celebrations.
Some of our staff spend time during the week in counseling sessions and volunteering for food serving. One of the most important activity of the Maalaga Social Foundation Staff is spending time with the Elderly and listening to their stories and sorrows of life and then give them some inspiration to bring a SMILE on their faces. In acknowledgement of this gesture we had distributed to each Elderly inmate a SMILEY Handbag that they cherish and carry with them all the time.
